What was the problem?
Anne and Alex of Wilbur Properties had a systems and information problem. With over 250 residential and commercial properties to manage, they have a lot of moving parts and too much work was being done manually. Even with their investments in a brand new portfolio management software, AppFolio, the lack of integrations with other process technology wasn’t meeting their goals. They reached out to Stride to help put some better financial processes in place.
Implementing Digital Process
One critical piece of workflow that needed automated was time tracking for their handymen out in the field who are working on properties and their time and materials needs to be billed back to the property. Using voice to text, handymen can document their time and work so there is an audit trail for the property owners and payroll can be more easily managed. Stride also implemented Expensify, which eliminated a fair amount of back and forth on chasing receipts and figuring out if a charge was associated with a property or Wilbur operations.
The big deal is that some key processes around time tracking, expense management and auditing have been digitized. Getting rid of paper was a big deal for Wilbur. We are also able to facilitate the more rapid creation of the monthly owner financial packets, customized communications detailed out activity for the month. While AppFolio lacks some of the integrations regularly found in general ledger systems like QuickBooks Online, Stride was able to adapt its processes to significantly improve workflow with Wilbur’s systems.
